Not all chips of the damaged windshield can be replaced. There are six types of chips that can be repaired-star break ,bee's wing,bull's
eye, half moon,combination and clover leaf.If the crack on the windshield resembles any of the above and if it is smaller than 1.5 inches
in diameter it can be repaired.
Windshield Replacement
The first step in windshield replacement is the assessment of the damage caused. In case of a cracks as mentioned above, we suggest
full replacement with quality glass and adhesives recommended by the manufacturer.
The second step is removal of the damaged windshield which may seem easy but great care should be given so that the pinch weld(ridge
around the car's frame that holds the windshield in place) is not damaged .Otherwise the new adhesive may not seal properly.
The next step is placing a new windshield in its proper position using the best quality glass and adhesive.The windshield installation
is done based on the procedures set by Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council. It must be allowed to set for a particular time
period so that the windshield is properly adhered to the frame.
